How will Government Shut Down Affect 4506-T Processing?

NCS continues to communicate with our IRS and IVES contacts to monitor budget
battle and minimize impact on tax transcripts processing in event of a shutdown.

Currently the U.S. Congress is working to pass the spending bill needed to fund the Federal government for the fiscal year that begins Tuesday, October 1. Without an agreement, there could be a government shutdown.

The IRS is among the Federal agencies that would be impacted. Congress could provide stopgap coverage with a short-term "continuing resolution," but it would run out by the end of October. Without funding, the IRS will be unable to perform the transcripts verification processing that NCS provides its customers as an Income Verification Express Service (IVES) vendor.

While experts see a shut down as unlikely, NCS is monitoring the situation through our contacts within the Agency, and will pass along updates via our twitter account (@NCSTRV) as they occur. We will do everything we can to mitigate any short- or long-term impact on IRS operations.

With or without the added challenges of a government shutdown, NCS maintains one of the quickest turnaround times in the industry, and a quality control process that can stop error-bearing forms from even reaching the IRS.
